Project Details
Goal & context. This project turned a raw, text-heavy humanitarian report on Herat Province’s needs and response plans into a polished, professional document. The aim was to improve clarity, credibility, and impact so that stakeholders and decision-makers could quickly grasp key messages and use the report for planning and advocacy.
Content structuring & hierarchy. The original narrative was reorganized into a logical flow: clear sections, headings, and subheadings were applied so that readers could scan and find information easily. A table of contents and consistent section numbering were added. Redundancy was reduced and key facts were highlighted so that the report could serve both quick reference and deep reading.
Visual design & layout (Adobe InDesign). Layouts were built in InDesign with a consistent grid, typography (typefaces, sizes, hierarchy), and spacing. Headers, footers, and page numbers were applied throughout. Color and emphasis were used sparingly to direct attention to important figures and takeaways. The result is a cohesive design system that looks professional and is easy to navigate.
Visual elements & data presentation. Where the content supported it, charts, maps, and simple infographics were added to summarize numbers and geographic information. These visuals were styled to match the report’s design and to make complex humanitarian data more accessible. Captions and short explanations were included so that each visual supports the narrative.
Outcome. The refined Herat Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan report is a publication-ready document that communicates critical information clearly and professionally, demonstrating the ability to transform rough content into stakeholder-ready reporting through structure, design, and data presentation.
